NASHVILLE SKYLINE There’s a skyline in Tennessee That is lighted by new stars Some of the brightest came to life In dingy, smoke filled bars. To this place called, “Music City” They came and paid their dues Hoping to read, “A star is born.” And see their name in the news. There are some, came like a comet And burnt up in the flame Flashed before they turned to dust Lost, never to shine again. Some became household words A part of our history Left their mark across that skyline Of Nashville, Tennessee. Part of our Country’s heritage Was written ‘neath these skies Some of those songs made us happy Some brought tears to our eyes. The skyline here will always glow As each new star is born Some of them will shine forever Some will be gone, by morn. In the infinity of space You won’t find more stars to shine Than those sparkling there above That Nashville city skyline. Del "Abe" Jones |
