Love’s tussle, amidst darkest hues Restrain me, hasty kiss and strengthen That I shall gentle play the scent Of far away Flaming burn compromised, seeks present Amore…of men alone Of men alone, as words can be To find the curse of adoration Be devoted to…. Cast aside pretense Little feet of breath going farther Going to seed Enlist the mighty optic which prostitutes itself Vermilion poppies fanning humanity The drunk caught by surprise Standing quiet by my side Of mortal peaceful voice Clever bones of sacred incense, Elysium To offer living corner stone… Of ruby glow, of lucky red Karmic wheels, reflective joy Myriad things, of course employ Affection rustling simple cloth With salmon tones approach Courting ritual centerpiece, the Eros Formless quality ever present cosmos Steps into the sunlight Coming to existence, kaleidoscope Such a heaven living theme of Eros Free to see, like secrets au fait Blows forth the smile of sea be named Blows forth the course of offering The warmth of light in darkness Concrete imagery folding mist Sweet taste of more, thinking forms Igniting passion, skin cloaked shrine Released within the hands of time I know your lips on mine, oh yes I know your lips on mine The gentle swish paralyzed Rum soaked slippers Hungry, warming….shared understanding Giving sight, with arms lustfully balmy Lightly touch, the flesh of mild white arms Soaking me in copper ballet What deep gaze caresses such delight? To give…to give to hunger’s plight Probing doe eyed drowning ascension Secrets that time has charged Faith confesses, a brilliant moon Where righteous men harpoon A change of heart Confessions turning red Oh, find the lips of tender whisper As nature’s choice bellows canter Listen intent Blessings stroke and bring to life Ballooning wildlife A sojourn shadow answers The flute which anchors Wilting sorrows Flowing things of truth, humbly swoons The lanterns of the smile of noon Larger then sight, naming still the future A soul in hope, take notice Where names of love will echo Forgetting self…affair with love |

LeeJ So often you leave me at a loss for words...you are so overflowing with images that I feel filled up. You're lovely! |

I sit awash in your images just feeling the touch of the words and the thoughts that they bring - Susan If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |

I think I've finally found an answer to why your poetry is so beguiling, and begs one to read it when alone, in the quiet, taking one word, one line, slowly...drinking deep of the images... and it struck me this morning as I read this, that Suetang uses the paintings of an artist whose work is just as deeply engrained in her canvas as your words are in your writing. Because the artist that Suetang borrows from is as deeply impressive as you have become with your words. You cannot take in her paintings easily; neither can one take in your words on a skim... each artist allows her work to breath... and it takes time to get to know the works. If you get the sense that I am impressed? You are right on target. |

yes to karilea her fine appraisal of your fine work is right on target; the tapesty is woven with your words and a quick skim just doesn't do justice must be digested slowly |

"can one take in your words on a skim" You got that right, Kari When reading poems like this one I won't to savor each line, each stanza. I find myself doing that same thing when reading Shakespeare and Cummings. Excellent poetry, Lee J, excellent indeed.... ___________ice ><> |
