Moved from a shack to a barn

I am damned, and already dead
I wonder, now, the purpose of it all
I hear my own voice only as an echo
I see the world begin to distance itself
I want to believe there to be a redemption
I am damned, and already dead

I pretend that all is well, always
I feel a thick darkness growing in my chest
I touch upon my faith and find it to be fragile
I cry in this abject aloneness, and am ashamed
I am damned, and already dead

I understand that this is the way of things
I say though, that love matters, still
I dream this small life might have mattered
I try, in my scribbling, to live on a bit longer
I hope at the end, merely, not to be forgotten
I am damned, and already dead

Please…Let’s just say my imagination is running amok
And leave it at that...

I probably just need some Zoloft  *smile*

I have always thought of you as an amazingly deep and understanding person.  I still do!

PS...I know you meant to say it humorously...but Zoloft really helped my husband when he was down.

You Sir shall never be forgotten..
and yes, sometimes we need a little Zoloft to help us up.
Thank you for a challenge well met and the insight.

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul

I AM, happy to read you this morning, Ed, and want you to know, I could have written a similar write just two or three days ago. Instead, I wrote one around midnight last night....my time of night to connect with the stars and beyond, and then back to my centered  indomitable spirit, the one that keeps me on terra firma even as my heart desires to fly away some nights. Does this make sense to you, mon ami?
"I pretend that all is well, always" a telling line

Geez, Ed. Now I'm trying to picture a commercial for zoloft starring a yeti.

Opening scene:

A yeti is walking, slump shouldered through the woods. He abjectedly pulls a leaf from a tree and munches. He shakes his head, spits out the vegetation, and with a "nah" body language, walks to another tree, whereupon he snaps a branch off of it, and samples the leaves dejectedly. Naw, yet again. The yeti sneaks into a camp and rummages through the untended belongings of hikers, and finds--ta-da! An Rx for Zoloft!

He munches one of the pills.

Miraculously, he notices a subtle change. He begins to shed, as he, of course, (since this yeti can read) follows the Rx instructions, and takes the proper dosage of one tablet a day.

Advance frame to springtime--as evidenced by flowering vegetation. The yeti has lost all of his hair with the exception of one pony tail at the top of his head. He is now at the airport, dancing & brandishing a tambourine as he wears a toga-like sheet, handing out pamphlets for the Reverand Moon.

This could happen to you! (Read the accompanying literature--it's a rare side-effect of the drug, that occurs only within the delicate biological make up of the gentle yeti, located within the dense forestry of the NorthEastern Atlantic states.

You depressed? I'll be damned!

You can expect this witch to come typing after you! (Maybe a little St. John's Wort, but no Zoloft for yetis...tsk.)

(and you have been warned--I'll be looking for you Ed.)

Well I'll be damned! You're not dead, you're a wonder!

~ and yes, continue to "pretend that all is well" ~ for as you think, so shall it be!

Live long and prosper by letting your imagination run amok with pen on paper!

Cross legged, at your feet,
I sit beneath you,
wide eyed and wondering.
Your fingers outline my chin,
as I tilt my head
skyward
into cerulean sunshine
into wisdom
into love.
Into the mind of a man
far surpassing any other.
Into the soul
of the gentlest rain
coupled with the fury of a maelstrom.
I look away,
for I am ashamed
for seeing too much
and look to the ground,
the dirt and grass
I sit upon
and hang my head in shame
for reaching inside of you
and grabbing onto your heart.
But I cannot deny
what I have seen,
nor how I feel,
and no matter how you slip
I will not let go
of my best friend,
my mentor,
my lover,
my beautiful man,

my soul . . .

For when I was slipping,
you held my hand tight.

Let's just say... this touched me deeply... and echoes within.

And littlewing's response... I have no words but... this is definitely a thread for my library.

Maybe a little downer wouldn't hurt. We all hope that we will leave an impression when we are done. Believe me Ed, you will live on forever in my mind. What a huge impression you have made for me.

when we fall, we leave an impression in the dirt
and sand by grain of sand the wind will fill the hole, as naturally these things will occur....
and you will also erode in time...as all of us do.
you already know nothing is permanent, but that doesnt mean you have to readily succumb to the inevitable.

stand up, dust the knees of your trousers....youve got alot of miles left in ya.

Goats have been known to scale very precarious heights no sense in settlin' in valleys

Wranx, this is a dark one.

Maybe instead of Zoloft, a walk along the river in the sun!

This absolutely never ceases to amaze me... and reading what you have done with X Angel/Alicat's challenge is absolutely no exception. This is one of the most incredible writes I have ever seen you do.
Great Job.

Ran to hide behind the stairs
And said maybe when it's right for you, they'll fall
