The cattle
in the meadow
settle down
for sleep;

their figures
as shadows
wide
and low
over autumned fields.

Now
the cow
comes to seek its rest

in milky memories

and marbled dreams.

You must have lived in the country...no city boy could muse on a cow at twilight! Enjoyed the quiet pastoral quality of this one John.

The last part of this makes me think "poor cows" either milked or eaten - but so is life, hmmmm? hehe-  sorry about the strange interpretation - Guess it comes from growin up around cows that were meant to be eaten eventually -

Enjoyed this -
