Gray Wolf Gray Wolf stares at me; as if hanging from a precipice, moon at his side. He glares, or stares, I cannot see his teeth; are they bared? How do I know if he’s friend or foe; his ears perpindicular to whiskers and the lay of his fur At some moments when Breeze moves him, he almost seems at peace, almost smiling with his eyes. Is it a disguise? Would I be wise to venture outside to make his acquaintance? What chance would there be to conjure a new friend for me? Something tells me, danger would not be my fate for his portrait is placed upon a fleece laprobe as he waits, draped over the cyclone fence, drying. ©October 21, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Nice twist at the end and wonderful expression of an animal I have very high regard for. A master of strategy and orchestrated hunts. A very enjoyable read. |

Vas Great job! But I am wondering if the wolf is not a wolf at all, but a man....perhaps a wolf in sheeps (fleece) clothing? Just a wild guess...poetry does this to me, my mind wanders down the trails of lines and sometimes veers way off from the intentions of the poet... anyway, I enjoyed reading this one.... ----------ice ><> |

Virginia, I not only enjoyed the poem, but the way you made Ford's mind wander...good job! |
