In dismal gray of rainy day, A poppy-pinned lapel, Reminds us all of Flanders Fields Where lie the brave that fell.
A time for us to honour All those who fought and died. Their loss was mourned by families As their nation’s peoples cried.
A war is so destructive ~ No side can truly win. Tears fall down from heaven, As flags blow in the wind.

Something that I feel mankind will never learn is the cost and the needlessness. Very nice tribute to those who honor their flag and homes.

I am always filled with emotion on Remembrance Day. And emotion moves me to write. Yes, "gut-wrenching" is a good description of how I have been affected by the horrors of war both past ~ and present.

Linda,
This is one of the most beautiful poems that I have read. It should be reposted every year, my friend.
