day 243

eave leaves

not at all
was I up for it today
gravity being what it is
and my attention still diverted

in anger

one must pay attention
to little things
like maple seeds
and spruce needles caught

in high places

but one must also
pay attention to
the angle of the ladder and
a compromised sense of balance

in the late of the afternoon

so I focused on the task
and kept close to the rungs
and tried not to write this poem
until now

in the safety of this chair

passing shadows

Ah, yes! 'Twas best to focus on the task at hand ~ and then write about it from the safety of your poetic chair!
