I was standing in dark shadows looking into the basement, the bright-light subconscious... a pool table in a dank room with bets wagered... they were disappointed the split had turned the tides away from liquid and they knew me with their frowns... with the corners of their mouths turned down I placed the warm red glass on the old black fender so familiar and said words I couldn’t comprehend but they knew them and they left me without saying goodbye |
