On a misty, autumn evening, As the sun sinks in the west... I reminisce of days gone by, The life I loved the best. The PRCA circuit- The miles and stops I knew. But that is all behind me, So now what will I do? I'd like to load my pickup, And follow that old sun... Out west to Arizona, Where my journey first begun- I'd like to have a riding job, Out on the Bar T Bar... And live out in a line-shack, And never see a car. Of course I'd keep on writing... Recording all my dreams. But dreams are never fruitful, At least that's how it seems. I loved my share of women- Been loved by one or two... I wonder if they'll miss me, When my life on earth is through? I read one time, a fellows thoughts... Of how to test success. It's as good a way as any- I surely must confess. He said a man should have one friend, To take him as he is. And a woman who would love him, That he was sure was his. A dog that asked for nothing- But walking at his side- Then he had lived a life worthwhile... Before he went and died. |
