I love surprises
like when the sky
pours pink lemonade
and a treasureful
of trinkets fall
to the ground;

(just for me)

and the discovery
that something you thought
was stone written,
is really as mutable
as the changeable clowns,

and that love really does come and go,
when you don't fast forward its script
at its opening call,

and that i will fall
in love again,
next week perhaps,
because it's something
that makes me happy
and i shouldn't have
to explain myself ,

and that the cats
who were thought
to be left for dead,
reappeared at my kitchen door,

and that these 80 year olds
know how to get down
and party harty,
act like romantic teen hearts,
at this valentines dance
in the old folks retirement home,

i love surprises -

like when you called me beautiful today
for no apparent reason at all.

Goddess ~

You were called "beautiful" for a reason! ~ because you are! ~ inside and out!

I loved the spirit in which this poem was written! ~ and the title is perfect! "Confectionary Hearts". ~ and your own is delightfully sweet!

Michele, you've written a lot of good poetry, but this poured sweet and wonderful from your heart. I hope I can see a lot more poetry like this from you, because it was outside the box for you...or at least, of those poems I have had occasion to read. This show a lot of growth, and a lot of amazing.
