A hoary silver serves my tresses verdigris,
stress fractures wrinkles as metals fatigue,
years of tears like acid rain have worn
a once seamless profile

so like a statue here I wait,
and where are you now love?

We swam naked, often, in a sea
that only was when we were we,
a sea of smooth and soft and warm
and light, always light

I yet hold tight its scant candle
never snuffed, unquenched

Brief and brave, upright, sensitive
to mood and movement,
its flame never impure,
sputtering songs you’d know

and never burdened you witness
its undying, or would its quiet death

long forgotten, the sapped match,
head bowed, spent and frail
from exhaustive eruption,
knowing too well what follows used(to be)

It was I who fell to the spell
of the stream’s pooled illusions,
a depth not there, rocks vouched
as smoothened safe

whose muddied risks fell
where pushed, betrayed
and failed to struggle against
the colder flow

no weather doused the candle, no time quelled the love,
not even the anti-love in its long, thorough search
to raze all my love and any light could touch it

and where are you now love?

This brought forth
many images,
including The Eternal Flame...

So I'm going to library it,
visit the images
over time, see how they waver
in the light...

Well done, Sir. But that's getting to be my favorite part of reading your works...they are always very well composed.

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?  Keeping in mind, I must stand close...and keep my promises...

I think many of us at one time or another
have fallen under the spell of the illusion and until our eyes finally see past it, we have already felt its pain.

You do write exceptionally well, but then you already knew I would say that.
Good morning.

choose to chance the rapids,
dare to dance the tides...
