My Sunday Trips By Paul Wilson The trips were long and hot (I remember them well) Sunday trips to grandma's car windows rolled half down trying to catch a breeze on a hot August day Dust filled my nostrils as we bounced along the washboard road in our fifty four chevy Dinner and playing hide and seek till dark enjoyed by us kids Ya'll be nice and you'll get a special treat from grandma she use to say Turn the crank but not too fast ice cream's almost done Falling down we'd skin our knees grandma would dry our tears and doctor it for us Momma would call come on boys it's time to go Please Momma we'd say can we stay just a little longer Grandma would give us each a hug and kiss and whisper in our ear mind your momma now boys and come back next Sunday We would cry and fuss as we rode away looking out the rear window of that fifty four Chevrolet I wish she could have stayed a little longer and I wouldn't have too shed these tears [This message has been edited by Paul Wilson (02-09-2005 10:46 PM).] |
