Yesterday...i encountered a newborn
and how i saw you in him

and in the pause of his suckling
how i ached to hold him

to feel
that innocence, i once held

again

it is slipping from you
from the tremble of your thighs
from my fingers, buckled and bent
and only the tips
are touching

my little fish

you are leaping
from these hands that
have ((wrapped)) you
like an oyster would a pearl
to then present you
as a gift

and i knew in the crystalline knowledge of you

Ahhh, Maree.....It is difficult to let go of the need to suckle...realize though, that he will always always be your baby...even when he is a man. This poem is precious and touching.

Ahhhhh, so tender Maree. Have no fear my son is going to be forty, and I dare anyone to try to even try to tell me he is not my little boy. He always will be too, and my best friend.
