I nuzzle your velvet cheek, pulsing nape, and kiss misted petals trying to meet myself within you, I, an arrow of ice, so cool up to that point, so sharp in bellicose pose, melted in your quiver, My heart before, a mean glacial stone, rode slow the blue ice and after, lying in the suede nest of your sling, shot, hot and quick, have yet to land Your eyes, freeze me in their light, the light behind your eyes warms me imperishable as all things sink in you I wake and reach to find my place in the book I fell asleep with, gently turn a page, wishing the story no end Poets against the war is redundant |
