Moved from a shack to a barn

0 posted 2005-02-02 02:42 PM

The knock at the door shouldn’t have been a surprise
Ol’ Scratch had dropped by from time to time

For cards
Or a drink

Or, general discussions about not a whole lot

But tonight, it was different
There was something I wanted to know

I know, I said, that sooner or later
You’re going to come by this shack
And the call won’t be social

That when you leave on that day
You’ll be taking me with you

Or, at least, the small kernel of me
That matters at all

And it terrifies me

Not, so much, for the clay I inhabit
This shell, you see, becomes less
And less a thing that I cherish

Or even for the things that I’ve learned
For, all that I know, is known also by others

Or losing the philosophies I treasure so much
I know they will always endure inside books

Its my memories that concern me
Especially the ones I’ve edited so carefully

Tell me, old friend, what happens to them?

If those carefully edited memories are in blue, black and white...then they are ours for eternity....and we will keep them warm in your memory.

Do cherish yourself...anyone that makes you feel less simply doesn't deserve you...and you do matter, the whole entirety of you, thoughts, soul, and heart....you are a part of life..life you...and a miracle...a beat in time so signficant, without you time would stop!

Heart wrenching poem

I'm sure Ol’ Scratch said, "they go with you of course." LOL Had the same conversation.

interesting thoughts in this -

as far as scratch goes - a nice bit of sesame oil should take care of that wondering itch, then he won't be needed

The secret I understand is ask him or her to a game of cards and then break their arms before they deal.

Like the words very much.

I could bend your ears backwards... or drown you *S*... with all this makes me feel... particularly these incredibly poignant lines...

But... *G* I enjoy your work far too much to risk running you off. LOL

So I'll just say... oh, yes... fantastic!!!

My old friend Bob knows....he still drops by occasionally, and did for a few minutes this morning.

He used to love to talk and tell stories of things he'd seen in life. Now he can't talk (being dead), but when he visits I remember those times and things he would say....and the feeling that I get from him tells me he does too.
