i count the eight degrees on my small slight fingers
& admire the way that they crook /or are strung
that they are mine in the mix of this great whirling chaos -

i swell and succumb
or become accustomed to //listening softly

while the same swinging lamps speak out in to the dark night
in to the air that was once mine wholly
in to the air that will soon enough be mine again -

(understand):
they are these black trumpets over turned
(or an intricate system for public announcement),
i hear them whisper cautiously
i hear them threaten the curves that I have known
with the birth of a billion silent babies

and i am curling -

i have stopped digging my way out
i have surrendered to these months where i
trek through what is wet /and what is heavy.

Very dark, very good.
I especially like the sense of distraction,
as if wholly unconscious of anyone overhearing.

Alicia

I am always awed by your writing and wish I could write with the same amazing inner voice of truth.

Alicia~
This entire piece is word-pregnant, birthing before my eyes~

THIS -

'they are these black trumpets over turned'

- a sigh of imagery that signatures your pennings~

Good ... REALLY good to see you, gal~

When are you going to submit
for publication?

And if you have...then please,
share with us, so that we might know
the literary world is as proud of you
as we are...

this is Magnificent!

I'm sighing here.

I'm afraid I feel quite dumb again. I felt a certain claustophobia of low hanging storm clouds, and a panicky urge to flee with cement feet, and I have to exit wondering if I understood this at all...

but somehow, you always leave me gasping.

I felt such a sense of impending doom, and I have said it before, and I'll repeat it:

You manage to write very cerebral poetry without losing the impact of emotion.

I wish, I wish, I could do this.

I know I sound like a broken record when I reply to you, but truly you are a gifted writer and I am amazed at the depths I find in your poetry.  Well done.

you all are lovely for stopping in.

and kari?,...i have not, no, i have not.
these, um, things that leave me? don't have
the work or effort put into them deserving
of such a thing.
they are but a weak seeping of me, but thank
you for such a reply! - i've been keeping an
eye on your success and am pleased and proud
you should know.

your words have a knack of simultaneously killing, and reviving me.
my awe of your ability is matched only by that of your personality.
