If someone wished to forecast, the length of Winters' rule,
'twould only seem apropos, they'd use the proper tool.
Methinks, perhaps, a woodchuck that's named Punxatawny Phil
might prove to be ill-suited to these matters, if you will.

I don't mean to cast a shadow on tradition , have no doubt.
but, to base a six week forecast on a critters' coming out,
awakened from his slumber, just to see what he can see,
appears a "tad" bit foolish, were the "experts" to ask me.

In Bewilderment, we do things in a slightly different way,
if your tongue sticks to the flag-pole, it's a pretty darn cold day.
Here, we've only got two seasons, one of which I've plum forgot,
'bout ten weeks of real good skiing, and 'bout two that ain't so hot.

So them folks in Pennsylvania, they can stand up on that hill,
and then put their trust in woodchucks (that's named Punxatawny Phil )
but, here in ol' Bewilderment predictin's not our thing,
'bout when Hell's done freezin' over's a good sign we might see spring.
