“And Baghdad darken and the bridge
across the silent river gone
and through Arabia the edge
of evening widen and steal on”
-Archibald MacLeish “You, Andrew Marvell” 1930

The Hee-Haw Esau makes a worthless bargain,
his see-saw so much like an oil well
that gushes up his words in jumbled jargon
from somewhere underground, perhaps from hell

A maudlin fraud this Midland mediocre
who tells us god applauds his “March to Freedom,”
spares not the rod or wad this middlin’ joker,
who waddles as though bullocks were not freed him
(when others served, he swerved to didlin’ coke or
perhaps the goof step’s from where book learnin’ kneed him)

This Mayberry marshal’s march knows only martial,
the oily greed that profits by carving tribes.
Have you noticed his democracy is partial,
that divided’s fall is how his word’s transcribe?
(spider who weighs the Kurd warlords will parch all
the unity he pretends with his tough it jibe,
little miss the profit beyond a 3rd March, all
preceding months where death was less inscribed)

The xenophobic xylophone he tinkles
must mesmerize so like the piper pied
when leading all myopic rats with sprinkles
of tunes whose dooming music only lied
(and seems to lay compassion Rip Van Winkle,
ignores Bin Laden, given a free ride
while clear and perfect truth develops wrinkles
as billions spent and innocents have died)

His Jacob’s hirsute ruse fools old blind Isaacs,
agendas trumpeted by louder clans,
while anyone with sense sees through these tricks
(in no speech is Bin Laden’s name e’er scanned),
while under corporate, zion orders sticks
Americans with bills for war long planned
one candle burns both ends, he claims two wicks
(get back to you on this after Iran)

a teacher of life, yes....

The xenophobic xylophone he tinkles

of tunes whose dooming music only lied

When the "deals" break down, we blow 'em up.
That's how the Royal Oil Force works.

Maybe there is a new deal with Bin?
But . . . where's his oil?
(I think I know . . .)

thanks,

for saying what too few have the balls to say, and even less have the brains to realize for themselves

Much of what you say is true - and you say it so very well - but may I please add this-

beneath the politics, the he said she said, the oil struttin' aristrocrats - there are men and women with hearts of gold giving their time and blood - and there are iraqis who have suffered untold horror - who then would step forward for those who have been tortured, murdered, raped, pillaged and trodden upon?

This war was wrong - but that makes Sadaam no more right - he was a wicked and evil man - so if from the bad some good might come, I shall pray it does - like water dilivered where there has been none drinkable, aid to schools, the thoughts of freedom to speak your mind - things we take for granted --

I've family there - and I would hope that their sacrifice and the horrors they've seen will not be for naught -

Enjoyed this RS - I too am tired of the lies - and only wish our troops home, but if we are there, let's hope something good might come from it -

Susan
