Somewhere along the neural pathways that carry the tremors of aspen touch to the base of the brain I lingered long enough to taste how carnations split their buds when the sun drew hot against the stem and roots reached deep to find the wet from last nights rain Against the back of my tongue vowels begin to form and I let lips break soft consonants between the o's while I sip easily the flavor nectar brings begging swallow to coat my throat with the pollen of some past spring when the world was younger and flowers grew wild along the cracks in concrete or between the trees in a hide and seek with feet "When I was young" innocence became the bed of earth turned to a deep rich mulch that begged seed so buds would swell and meet the reach of season until sap flowed easily from the tips and hungry mouths fed to the croon of soft sighs the wind between years denied "Now the Age becomes" and I let my finger trail the curve of spine to end along the place hips join and wonder if the cords inside still tie feelings to the days before petals fell and I replaced the empty in you with stolen brachts of those nights Too tender to begin the open eyed stare At what it was we did To ourselves and to the colors Of our hidden souls |

Against the back of my tongue vowels begin to form and I let lips break soft consonants between the o's while I sip easily the flavor nectar brings begging swallow to coat my throat with the pollen of some past spring when the world was younger and flowers grew wild along the cracks in concrete or between the trees in a hide and seek with feet lovely writing, C M |

Somewhere along the neural pathways that carry the tremors of aspen touch to the base of the brain ~*~ This is how it is...a poet starts strong, and keeps you bound all the way through... |

"When I was young" innocence became the bed of earth turned to a deep rich mulch that begged seed so buds would swell and meet the reach of season until sap flowed easily from the tips and hungry mouths fed to the croon of soft sighs the wind between years denied "Now the Age becomes" and I let my finger trail the curve of spine to end along the place hips join and wonder if the cords inside still tie feelings to the days before petals fell and I replaced the empty in you with stolen brachts of those nights Too tender to begin the open eyed stare At what it was we did To ourselves and to the colors Of our hidden souls =========================== smiling....smiling...smiling... Ron "When I was young" innocence became the bed of earth turned to a deep rich mulch that begged seed so buds would swell and meet the reach of season until sap flowed easily from the tips and hungry mouths fed to the croon of soft sighs the wind between years denied To everything a season, yes? |

This completely blew me away: I lingered long enough to taste how carnations split their buds when the sun drew hot against the stem Beautiful, Ron |
