The boy (near blind) advancing taps, A white stick on cement that sends Sight by touch, a light, for darkened eyes. The crosswalk button blurs, a liquid red, Through lenses giving sight at low percent; Glasses, wide and whisky-tumbler thick. An animal impaired, but still alive, Surviving by the strength of other wits; Ears detecting sounds of subtle voice, Emitted from a breathless metal box, Triple clicks, tell when it's safe to cross. |

Senses round when one is lost magnified steady the toss'd though to lose one, or more magnifies well another door... |

tapping into reality I see not an impaired being rather, one who uses given senses with greater respect but not necessarily at greater heights though, to be sure, more appreciative of God's gifts |

A poet could not ask for two more beautiful replies... Thank you Karilea and Kacy.... This poem is about a boy that lives in my town...It amazes me to watch him make his way across busy streets.. I cheer him own, he may be "wounded" but that doesn't stop him...he deserves to be highlighted in a poem...and so became this one... ___________ice/ford ><> |

Ford, sometimes I do believe that those impaired physically, are much more advanced than those of us who are not. Lovely writing and thank you for your most beautiful response on my write. I surely did not deserve that. |
