~*~

A fire burned incessantly
flaming golden embers that sparked a madness
hypnotizing the night,
and somewhere in my heart
I broke away from reason
that would come back to haunt me
and chill me to the bone.

The room spun scarlet shadows
while the walls dripped,
closed in crimson
holding me up in the glow
before lying me down to dream.
Blowing deep breaths in a blaze
that singed the silver lining
wrapped up with my caution,
thrown carelessly to the wind.

Make believing in tall tales
and how best to fill the emptiness
enveloping me to extremes,
that went up in flames
with the rest of me.

The warmth was surreal
mingling with a cool breeze
between the hush of whispers
backed up against a wall.
While you kept one eye on the window
that was your way out all along.

I guess we made it easy on each other,
at least for you it must have been.
As I frantically try to bury the pain of my insanity
tangled up with my misgivings
lying low among the ashes
burned down in the heat of the moment.
And all that turns to dust,
turned to dust.

A superb blues write, Bluesygal. I'm keeping this one, as a reminder of how dust settles.

It seems
   all dreams
      return from which
          they came ...

             .... hence the sleeping dust
in the corner of morning eyes.

love how you play such blues!!

Thank you always, Alli~

Kacy~ settle it will, and does,
which is precisely what burns my eyes.  Thanks.

Ericc~ Thank you for stopping by to read, I appreciate it.

Hey Craig~ Nice to see you here, and thank you for your poetic reply.
"Hence the sleeping dust in the corner of morning eyes"
That's pretty,  if only I didn't have to make my bed.

Sweet vandana~ I thank you very much.

A deep blue theme here my gal...
Much like midnight, and as dawn mixes in the reds...a purple sunrise appears...out of the blue.

Hugs,
TD

"I broke away from reason
that would come back to haunt me"

The roots of the tree of blues is always rooted right here..when one breaks away from reason the seedling can grow into a bluesy situation...

TD~ Thank you for your warm reply.
I'll just have to bide my time and watch for the purple sunrise.
Hugging you for leaving me with that thought.

Yes,  the roots are buried deep, but they shall thrive again someday.
Thanking you kindly,   ford~

into the fire the jumping heart
jumps, not looking back
reason thrown out the door

so good at first, only waiting for dust to settle now....
ehhh
what can we do?
but pass the kleenex back and forth

and composing sheer heart from poetic ink as you've done as always
my sweet blonde

To quote Jackson Browne~ The Fuse

"Like a part of me,
it speaks to the heart of me
forget what life used to be
you are what you choose to be
It's whatever it is you see
that life will become"

Bless your blonde heart, Michele~
and thanks for the read.

You knew the moth would have to fly in the flame of this one...
wowzers girlie...what a moth anthem...
yep-- been burned but then learned....
very cool poem...loved the expression and theme... smoke and ash... yep... dont I know...
good to read you Bluesy-girl

Among the kingdom of the winds ...
perhaps there is one of elegant mind,
who has no need to intrude on the solitude of single things.
