True test, Wilderness At last.. Challenging mettle Because, not in spite of... Walking, In wind chill- factor... Owned by no one. Falling ill, Mind at dis ease Knowingno other wild (place) Exists; Except in Winter blasts. All Gone in my lifetime Every bit, but Wind-sting; And I fear Somebody-someday, Will come along And claim, Even (It) |

It sure feels like it sometimes, doesn't it? Sharp and clear, the sting of wind chill and the thoughts left simmering behind the door. TD |

There's a fairly remote wonderland in Alaska where I enjoyed strolling along a rocky beach scavenging for pieces of driftwood and unusual rocks, where even the arctic blasts didn't stop me from enjoying the sheer beauty. I loved those freezing windy days, for those were the times when I had the beach mostly to myself. It's hard to find places like that. When I do find a spot, I soak up as much of nature's gift as I can absorb, hoping the memories will tide me over 'till the next treasured moment. Your poerty often lets my mind and emotions escape for a short visit to the wild, even as my body sits here in front of this inanimate screen. Thank you. * The poem below is one I posted here earlier last year that you may not have read: Howling northerly. Growling dogs chasing tailwinds. Supplicating trees. One morning sunrise delayed. Nature’s force being displayed. |

I hope we never lose wind's sting... this morning at 4:30 I was up... the wind was drifting in from the south it was around 27 degrees... then, it seemed like planes were flying low overhead, it became so loud...but it was nothing manmade...and when I looked out, the moon was still there...but barely, it seemed, so hard was the wind now bearing down from the south. The chimes were sideways in the wind, the cold spanked itself on top of us with a heavy hand...and the sting was back... I can't imagine us losing the wind... |

(smiles) This is so beautifully serene, sweet friend, I'm not a big fan of wind chill, but I love nature and I recognize it makes up a great part of the tapestry of life and nature and a little bit of it would never hurt a setting! (sigh) What I worry about and get scared of is knowing, particularly in a place like Oregon, unemployment is higher than most other states right now and there are at least 1,600 homeless citizens out on the streets regularly, and how do they cope with these cold winds? (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ford, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "You'll find something that's enough to keep you |

Poet friends Thank you all for reading and your affection by reply... This poem holds a meaning beyond enjoyement of wild things, wind sting on the face being one of them...it is actually a sad lament for things lost, gone forever in the true sense of the word "wild" Again, thank you for your attention ___________ice ><> |
