In evening’s hush I stand alone, upon vast Kansas plain,
As multitudes of stars emerge proclaiming daylight’s wane,
Beneath the vault of all that is, cathedral of all knowing,
I gaze above in wondrous awe, on the glory of night’s showing,

Polaris as a sapphired light, beckons me, imploring,
Come with me unto the night, to worlds unknown, exploring,
Beyond the birthplace of your being, beyond your mortal realm,
Where then and now are one the same, amid night’s overwhelm.

Ascending up to heaven’s high, I journey night’s abyss,
Sailing on the winds of time, on seas of heaven’s bliss,
Perfect beauty of the night, enwraps my soul, my being,
Beyond the rim of time itself, I to the night go fleeing.

A moonlit sky, a winter's eve, adrift on heaven’s floor,
I shan’t come back, but sail the night, sail night forevermore.

Night can take you....it takes a part from all of us, and from part of us, it takes all.
