a little bird fights its fight
darting into the sky
pushed back
time and yet again

from patient trials, it learns
to spread wings and glide
through crests of unseen waves
to revel in demystified airs

for, against the wind’s might
there’s no equal fight
learning is in accepting
the strength of forceful gusts
to gain from it
to drift the course
thus learning to fly

when darkness offers to swallow
large portions of shadows
the body walks away
to step into the light
enamoured by bright

the fruit just seems to know
when it is just ripe
as it is given away
by the tree that
gave it life

a sense of detachment
smallness perhaps felt
but soon it finds another purpose
as it rolls in the farmer’s
fruit-picking basket

inadvertently gaining
a small parcel of education,
I bob agreement nods:
there’s no perfect time to gain
even a spoonful of wisdom
~~~~~~~
sorry friends, I have been really busy and hence away for such a long time...
hope you all have been keeping well...
**gyaanam -> Sanskrit for knowledge, education, learning and in Hindi the word is gyaan
What a wonderful way to re-enter this home after a long absence. Missed you, friend. Much wisdom within this piece.
Namaste, Sudhir. And for India and all the other countries affected by the tsunami, I continue to light candles of hope and healing.
Loved these lines:
the fruit just seems to know
when it is just ripe
as it is given away
by the tree that
gave it life
Nice pic, too!
