In the arms of God...

Your Visit

Today you came to say goodbye
and help me let you go.
You leaned over me and touched me
to gently wake my soul.

You said "I hear you have some words
to say before I go."
I couldn't speak, but held you close
as my tears began to flow.

You smelled of happy memories,
your voice was loud and strong.
Not quite how I remembered it
for it had been too long.

You wanted me to think of you
with laughter in my voice.
"Although, it may be hard some days,
you have to make that choice."

"For if you do, I'll meet you there
to laugh and reminisce.
To take our friendship to a place
that truly has no end."

And as you left you held my hand
to give it one last squeeze.
As if to say "goodbye for now...
and that you'll think of me".

Your visit seemed to be too brief,
but helped me in a way.
You calmed my sadness deep within...
oh how I wished that you could stay.

And how I long to see you more,
my dear departed friend.
Please say you'll come to meet me there
in dreams that never end.

Written for Michael Pruitt..."Auguste" on 1/16/05.

I know...I knew it too, but some how it really helped me to see him.  I know it was probably all a dream [as I had heard a voice mail he had left on my cell phone prior to taking my nap]...but it seemed SO real...and it seemed to include all my senses, ya know?
Thanks for coming by here, Martie, and taking the time to comment.

Hugs to you, m'friend!!   -- Becka

Yes, WhiteRose and LeeJ, it was sad in a way, but it was also very healing.   I miss him SO much, but know...as sweet as he was here on earth...Michael is even sweeter up there and he is completely without pain!!

Thanks for your kind comments! -- Becka

Your poem here, as I suppose the visit you had, gives such beautiful beautiful Life to death. I do believe it's so and, yes, what a wonderful privilege and opportunity you have been given to experience and to be encouraged in such a way. Very much enjoyed reading. -Bob

Marty...thank you for your kind words...I was happy to have had the opportunity [even if it WAS a dream].  That was God granted for He must have known how much I needed it.

Sunshine...thanks for the sweet comment.   I believe that I owe it to Michael.  He gave me the inspiration for my very first poem...and he ALWAYS encouraged me to keep it up.  We talked about writing together, but never got the chance.  Maybe this WAS our "together".  It's a beautiful thought...and moves me to tears to think that...

Bob...thank you for that wonderful comment...it was SO kind of you to say.     I have enjoyed reading every thing I've read of yours so far. :}

jellybeans...thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment...that was so nice of you!! :}

Wow...I never expected to see so many warm comments regarding this one.  I kind of thought that people would be getting tired of my 'tributes' to sweet Michael.  It is just that he was such a beautiful soul...and I feel SOOO honored that God gave me the opportunity to see him again [a few times] before he passed away to strengthen our friendship.  Which was a miracle in itself...  [Maybe someday I will be able to write a poem about that story.]  But when I had that "dream" and the words came pouring out of me through my tears in 10 minutes flat...I felt the need to share it.

Thanks again for all your beautiful comments...they mean so much, but more because he was a beautiful person and I love and miss him so...

Take care and God bless you ALL!!

[I am really starting to LOVE my new 'home'!]

Hugs... ...Becka

I've had that kind of dream, and in many cases they were in fact expressions of what was, and was to be...it happens, never doubt it.

This a beautiful expression of love...and that's a dream worth having.

Thank you sweet, James!  I appreciate you stopping by here.

And Ratleader...your comment made me cry. :'(  I have had other 'dreams' like the one I had with Michael - and right now...I wish I could command one to happen.  LOL...but I guess it doesn't work that way, huh?

"This a beautiful expression of love...and that's a dream worth having."  --  You are right...it is a dream with having!  Thank you for your moving comments...

God bless,

Becka
