The Sum Of Love Look upon Me. My weary eyes tell of time not lost, but of suffering beyond understanding. Look upon My teeth, broken and crimson stewards of the spoken truth. Taste the blood running freely from swollen nostrils, stinging eyes, and innocent lips. I bent upon the altar of a desparate courtyard as My skin was stripped from its ravaged flesh at the hands of perfect priests. I debated not the call to stand in a murderer's stead when offered as innocent. My tongue rested while thorned crown was beaten into place by lost souls. Rivers red flowed from My brow, muddied by sweat and choking dust as I walked alone under the weight of all men, while the fists and spit of brethren found my labored passing. Do you see Mother? I make all things new. Was it so that only one carried the cross with Me when My spirit lifted yet My body broke? So it was written. Forgiveness My only answer while nails split flesh and bone of hands that held no weapon and feet that trespassed not. And, as My body rested, broken beyond understanding at the will of My Father I sang to all of you, "I love you this much." Copyright, Kevin V. Reese, 2005 |
