I haven’t seen no humans For ten days, maybe more And prob’ly wouldn’t ever If not for going to the store When about out of groceries And things that I like most I take heels of the loaf And turn them into toast I scrape edges of the tub Of the Shedds margarine I spread it far as I can And it ends up pretty thin The sweet jams and jellies Cover the bottoms of the glass That I will clean up now Right down to the very last And the liquor stock of mine On top of the old fridge Might see me from this valley To the top of the next ridge I got some one-ninety grain With licorice sticks to soak Making my own special stock To make my taste buds smoke I’ll sip it down until it’s dry As those dead soldiers grow Lick my lips, thirst unquenched As I line them up in a row I got me some herb smoke That I bought out online It ain’t like that cannabis But it will do, just fine Though I quit two years ago Of that bad tobacco smoke Sometimes it’s nice, just to have Some kind of a fake toke. Winter is the season now With it’s chilling to the bone As I learn a little bit more Well! That’s more than I’ve known! The snowflakes are falling Look like they may stick There’s seven deer eating grass Winter coats, grown thick They seem in a hurry Ooops! They just up and ran Maybe they know something Much more than I can Put an old pork chop out For a Freckles Cat feast Saw a squirrel running with it Must be a hungry little beast Ain’t seen turkeys in awhile Maybe someone killed them all Lured them in, within range With some made up call The trees are most all bare With green left on just a few And some are acting different Than what they usually do I killed wasps or hornets Or whatever the hell they are In this middle of winter When they should be off afar Strange things are happening Or is it just this time I see All that happened once before Right there, in front of me. I really enjoyed this story poem of yours. Strange how winder sharpens the senses, and all of sudden things that seemed invisible now are front and center. Very enjoyable read. Carpe' Diem |
