The cooling balm of rain
falls to soothe a furrowed brow
and lift the corners of my lips
into a smile of gratefulness.

And I wear that smile tonight
like a beacon in the dark
calling forward unto me
love’s heartfelt memories.

There are no butterflies
within the scope of memory
yet the fluttering of soul
foretells of happenings
unbeknown to me.

And on the edge I stand
excitement close at hand
dissipating focus between realities
like a child in a rose garden
breathes in the scent of fairies.

Intense emotive energy
circulating in the air
turns me from avowals
of a sojourn into silence
as if I was a bear
and words a cube of sugar.

How many times between, within,
poetry and story lines
before it can be known
emotion speaks volumes
to those with ears to hear?
