Between the Lines

Never (A)stray

Feelings between
the layers of indecision
a resting place, for hesitancy
lighting the candles
for stolen moments to wick
the fibers of my being.

Petals crumble
in the wavering, a hand open
below, to catch the fragments.
No title before these eyes
that dry their tears
in thought shreds.

Just heat escaping the vows
of yesteryear
trickling to those spots
where warmth is needed,
where the living sigh,
where death is held at arm's length
and nothing changes.

Tormented by the dark's accustoming
depressing today's love,
an illusion of imprisonment
minded in my dreams.
Unbreakable,
the aftermath bond
that even you have yet to share.

Challenged by temptation,
wordless in ability,
conditioned by timelessness
and a touch
that can change Winter into Spring,
a presence always
in the wanting.
