Unsilenced are pranks of little jack horner
who snatched a deed from a pastry owner
plum jam oozed from the corner of his mouth
he reminded released black birds to head South?

So one ties the song of sixpence
with little jack horner's sixth sence
custumary to conceal secret notes in pies
special crusts baked from the grain of rye

If baked blackbirds could at all sing
layered by dough then released in Spring
what hidden fortunes could crusts then reveal
t'was common practice for pies to conceal.

The history of our "innocent" childhood ditties, poems, and songs are long ago and ancient acts of thievery, espionage, church and government acts...all hidden in singsong delights to make the children dance...

Well done, Sir!

When I am taken back by rhymes,
Remember I of all those times.
Your cleverness is fun to read,
Please give us more of such a deed.

Well done!  Ken

...and if I recall correctly...wasn't it..."four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie"? That was one heck of a BIG pie! But, nothing was unthinkable when we were children. Thankyou for this, hugs, Chris
