beginning again (it’s a clean slate right?) what does one do if there’s chalk residue, erasings and casings, wrappers and goo? shoes in the parlor trash in the trash leavings and weavings of a New Year’s night bash or maybe more truthful the leavings of months and scatters of papers from last-minute hunts gifts and treasures abide in the corners enjoying abundance from sweet-friendly donors they wait for a place to abide in their wait for use or employment at some future date thankful, we are, for the gifts we receive reluctant, we are, to cease to perceive the caring from others when the new year is new and the weather more gloomy neath gray sky, not blue to freshen our lives we must freshen our state brighten the hallways lighten our gait let the joy from our loved ones drip and sprinkle about reign in our smiles, twinkle our eyes, liven our laughter, ignite our sighs ©January 2, 2005 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
