how the windows feel
on your skin when you are there
bare on the glass
trying to make a man
open your door
and enter quickly
and stay awhile too

I had my hand over my ears
as I sat on the curb
and shook change in my pockets
wanting to use the phone
but not knowing the numbers
to your emergency
so I read your lips
when you said those words

and left the lights on too
so I could read the rest of you
even the small print
about a warrenty
and restocking fees
if I returned you
unopened or broken
and I wanted to break you

but you said you were too fragile
