A Prisoner's Prayer
A prisoner stands before the judge awaiting sentencing, for the verdict is in and he's been found guilty of his sins;Bowing his head he prays to God and askes for forgivenness.
Standing behind the bars of his cell there is naught but four gray walls to look at. Dishearted the prisoner knows he'll never see the sky again, so he bows his head and asks God to forgive his sins.
The time has come... and the Priest sits down while the prisoner bows his head.
One last time he asks God to forgive his sins.
Within us all there is a prisoner who is praying for sins to be forgiven.

I know but usually we just write poetry instead.
I appreciate your words Froggy but too many innocents have died.
If capital punishment had existed in the UK, most of the people we would have hung, would have been innocent.

Yes, prisoners, we all, but also within each of us is a key to the cell, should we only reach deep within us and grasp hold of it - or so I like to believe-
Happy New Year, and may it be full of leaps and bounds for you, Froggy dear -
SusanEvery action generates a force that returns to us in like kind . . . let us choose compassion and love

You know me dear friend. I don't believe in an all powerful God...but I like the poem nevertheless. Bravo!Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

E.J.
What a compelling write. I have viewed the title since the day of write, and refused myself entrance, for several personal reasons.
Yet I am forced to answer thus....
You spoke from your heart.
Write on.
