I thought I'd call to let you know, I loaded my old truck. It's only right to say "goodbye, And will you wish me luck?" I think you know I love you, But, honey, don't you know- You can't tie down a tumble weed- I have to rodeo. I know we spoke of marriage- And, babe, you're probably right. I'll shed a lot of bitter tears, A lot of lonely nights. The circuit's for the youngsters, I guess I must admit... For age, and miles, and injuries, Have slowed me down a bit. By now I guess I've realized, It ain't about the dough... I have a yearning deep inside, I have to rodeo. A lot of hard and lonely miles- A lot of yellow lines. A lot of ratty motel rooms, I've left, and leave behind. I guess I'd better hang up now... Bye, babe, I have to go... I'm up this week in Houston, I've just got to rodeo. |

Wow , brings back a lot of memories... my Dad was with PRCA for a long time.... before he met my Mom, and dreamed of the big time.... and while he DID leave the rodeo and his dreams behind for her (his choice not hers) he sometimes needed to go back that calling was strong , he was never away from the circuit... just not traveling... and although he has passed on now... I was raised around the rodeo, so even being a woman , I still have that desire to be around the rodeos and cowboys to this day... of course my husband (not a cowboy) does not understand this... LOL it is not about wanting a cowboy, it is about trying to capture that feeling of Daddy.... again....... Great Write.... |
