Falling Into The Category Of Joe

falling has never been difficult
it always happens by accident
a tripping where your feet just
seem to give way and you end up
where you didn’t mean to
looking around to see if
anyone has noticed you
collecting yourself before
you go looking like a fool
average Joe’s just seem to
somehow trip up the worst
you know the kind …
the ones everyone can count on
who when you call they run
to you not away from you
dependable - who has your back
standing ground to defend your honor
any time, right or wrong
Joe’s are not without flaws
making mistakes everyone does
but as we stand close to fault
we somehow become so blind
quick to point out seams in others
we do not notice in ourselves
lately I have found myself
falling into the category of Joe
and on the ground I felt the rush
of heat upon my face in tears
but for now
I shall just sit here awhile
and collect myself
not caring who has seen me trip
for I find myself sitting
in good company

but yes, you are in good company, especially with me lately...just sit and relax awhile
