Between the Lines

I wonder Dad, if you understood
how so many can view with differing opinions
and how your "gone"
left them with unanswered questions.

For me it never mattered, being the
"go-between"..no different yesterday
than today.

Listening in on our conversation,
standing there in the cold,
helping your twin, my Aunt, understand why
she is still here and you are no longer.

It was a hard day...once again,
and my privacy with you was not there,
as I would have liked.

But it made her happy
to share her 80th birthday
with you and me...
and to reacquaint ourselves.

You're so real, M! ~ as is your poem. I envisioned it ~ I felt it. You truly are a sensitive and caring poetess.

Missing the 'lost' or 'reclaimed' must weigh a bit heavier on a surviving twin's birthday. The situation is poingant and I can say no more as I'm the father of boy/girl twins and drear enough without dwelling. Enjoyed

I could hug you so hard I'm afraid I'd hurt you.

Methinks this is a gentle thing tho:

Maureen, I've sure missed this place and all of you.  I talk to my Dad sometimes, too (he left us in 1976).  I am sure your Aunt was truly comforted by you being there.  I hope your holidays are good ones.   .......jo

Maureen, I love you for being YOU. I can
tell that you are a very loving and caring person and
that your family and friends mean a lot to you.
You put their feelings before your own, and
that is a very beautiful thing to do. I
sincerely hope that you have happy holidays.
with love and hugs,
Ethel
