Meeting The Girl from Ipanema As seemed to be the usual, half the beach crowd was oohing and ahing over her...so, in her vanity she tripped over me while I was lying on Ipanema Beach, soaking up some sun, desperately in need of some local kind of fun. And then she fell, and landed spread eagle right on my lips, so I gave her a good ole American kiss. And that's it, that's how I met the girl from Ipanema. JamesLee December20 2004 The Girl From Ipanema writers:Jobim/Gimbel/DeMoraes Recorded by Stan Getz vocal by Astrud Gilberto/1964 Tall and tan and young and lovely the girl from Ipanema goes walking and when she passes, each one she passes goes-ah When she walks, she's like a samba that swings so cool and sways so gently, that when she passes each one she passes goes-ooh. (Ooh) But I watch her so sadly, how can I tell her I love her, yes I would give my heart so gladly, but each day when she walks to the sea she looks straight ahead, not at me. Tall, (and) tan (and) young, (and) lovely the girl from Ipanema goes walking and when she passes, I smile-but she doesn't see (doesn't see) (She just doesn't see, she never see's me,...) |
