There was a time
In dusty memories
When love spoke with
The sound of your name
It fell silent years ago
And only echoes whisper
In my heart

Words of farewell
Never passed our lips
We simply stood
On different banks
Of life’s waterways
And boarded
Our assigned rafts
To different destinations

I always believed
We would meet again
But never dreamed
It would be this way
As I remember eyes
Once sprinkled with stars
Mine weep with knowing
Such blue bounty is
Curtained forever

I would gladly lean
If more than space
Stood at my side
But perhaps it is right
I stand alone
Moments of otherwise
Are mere illusion
And these are days
Of reality

This is filled with such ache..
but unfortunately reality does set in in time.
Well said...I could feel the pain.

I felt your words ~ as I always do.

Sweet Suthern Lady, though we do have to face reality sooner or later, at times it would feel so much better to wait awhile, doesn't it? I sometimes want to never face it, but always have to.

Like the others said, I really felt this one, Ruth.
Hugs and love to you,
Ethel

There is no reckoning for this, nothing repays it....and your words bring that truth home. You're a master of the art of twisting hearts, Laura.....no one does it better, and with a subject like this.....words fail me to describe it, but they didn't fail you.

I'm leaving now on what will be two days with 20 hours of driving interrupted by a time of intense sorrow... It means so much to me to know I'm taking so much loving support with me. Please know that in my heart, I'm thanking you individually... from the depths of my heart.

Yes... you help so much... I thank you!!!

Thank you so very much... It is never easy losing a friend... harder still when a life was taken, not lived full measure... and maybe harder because all those intentions of getting together again weren't acted upon and now it's too late. I can't tell you how much it's meant to have the comfort of friends here as I told an old friend goodbye.

Thank you... each and every one. And... if there's someone you've been meaning to get in touch with... do so. We get no guarantees.
