Of Dreams to Reality

And when the light rises
to meet these eyes
it is in the reflections,
that I see a once upon a time,
the ladder against the house,
a tree to roof climb upon,
a window in which to seek,
the stiffness of the old in otherwise
and the soft smiles
always brought forth.

It's in the years of learning,
perhaps too many,
perhaps not enough,
choices
to cover, to hold
in the lessened darkness
relieving the gloom
to pillow on dreams,
waiting for the touch
that only fingers can manipulate
into more.

It is there, learning to drive this body,
sometimes in yellowed caution,
but always turning the corner
on a continuous journey,
sometimes down memory lane of the familiar
before reaching the destination
that separates the changings
of dreams ... to reality.
