Like walls, I crumble in still of night
fall to my knees and scream out
to empty skies as tears fall
from my eyes.

My heart weeps for the child
who does not know that love
is more than just four letters
and a word
      that is seldom
          ever heard.

I feel the twinge and twitch
of my heart beating
as I remember the soldier
who stands guard on the wall
   so that his hopes
    and dreams
          won't fall.

My spirit is burdened
knowing that somewhere
a mother lies praying
for hope to remain
    within her sight

       to know where her child
            is tonight.

Tilting my head to darkened skies
I ask these questions of how, and why.
Void of the spirit of the season
my soul doesn't
comprehend            all of the reasons.

Soon, very soon,
it will be Christmas day
so tonight, I fall on my knees to pray
"tonight Father, I would only ask this
       of thee..
please.....bless the world
with your grace and peace......

{Wherever you are
wherever you may be
my wish for one and all
is that the world finds peace.
Happy Holidays to Pip.}

sorry about the lack of title, it just wouldn't come to me....

The greatest beauty on earth, is
found in the hearts of those
who love....

A title?  Gee, "A Sharing Of Gentle Spirit" came to my mind immediately.  Yes, God bless all those and more Donna, but especially the military personnel and their families who have given so much for us.

I am honored to be first to read this, it is truly a beautiful prayer.

darlin, this was more then a jewel of a write...praying will help, but...it is through a lack of education and responsibility of all concerned why these children suffer...the rich ignore the poor and uneducated...leave them to fend for themselves, deeming them as low life...not part of society, and through that concept comes abuse....not to mention, I believe strongly that our society has approved it, by ignoring it....instead of taking these lost souls aside and teaching them, giving them something to take pride in....themselves....lack of education...hence, child abuse....

A very powerful write, evoking much emotion...I'm standing right there with you...feeling the same way...it's not only sad, but dispicable on the part of our society...we watch the news, see it happening, but ignore it...this is what the government should be doing...enforcing laws to the hilt, and setting up agencies to pull these souls out of the pits of real despair...abuse will likely breed abuse.

My oh my, when will we learn?

sad to say
things seem to be getting worse
prayers falling on deaf ears
cherish the remaining ones that still show
they care
thank you for your voice of reason

Up out of the fires of lost confidence in mankind, seems to always rise, a poem in the smoke, such as this one,  to save me from incineration ....I come here for reprieve, to read poems such as this...
Thank you for writing it...

Come read to me some poem,
Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling
And banish the thoughts of day.

My thanks and best wishes to each
of you this holiday season.

Ice/Ford, I am touched by your
words. I do believe that was one
of the best gifts that I will receive
this year.
There are times when I write
something that is so meaningful
and close to me that I'm not sure
I should even post it.  This poem
was one of those things..
but then I read a comment like
yours and it touches me
because it allows me to know
that I am not alone in my
thoughts and within this lies hope.
I have a plaque at home with the
saying "where love and peace
and hope abide, surely angels
dwell inside."
I do believe angels reside with you sir,
thank you very much.
