Lost in thought

Remembering the way you died,
resting on your bed at home...
You were in my arms
and then, I was all alone.

But it seems like just a minute,
just a second, could have passed.
So it makes me feel crazy
when I think about the past.

Still,
I get lost inside your stories,
when you'd hold me on your knee
comparing all the recent times
with what they used to be.

You were everything I lived for,
and I know, I'm just a child,
but I miss the way you spoke
and the way you always smiled.

Now it doesn't make much sense,
but I'm trying to get things right.
And I only wish remembering
could help me through the night.

He was a man of sorrows
...I am a girl of tears.

Alyssa, you penned the feeling precisely and I certainly don't have the answer..

I understand the missing - and the ache in this - all too well

Alyssa,
She  must have been very special.  I bet she'd be very proud to know how well you turned out!
You've expressed yourself wonderfully in this poem.

These words help ease a long felt ache, the ache of someone gone...in very human terms, that are easy to share...

Alyssa, sweet one, the title was perfect for this poem.  As sometimes, when it rains, I miss my love ones passed.  I understand these feelings well and send hugs your way.   ........jo

LeeJ,
I suppose you're right. And I guess we never really do, either. Occassionally we run on to something that works out though. Hope something like that comes soon Thanks for your read and reply!

Gentle Spirit,
I'm honored that this touched you. Really it was just a simple spill of emotion and memories. Thanks for being so generous

Susan C,
unfortunately, I don't think there's anyone who does. Thanks for the reply

Susan,
and I'm sorry that you do understand it... because I know it hurts. But it's nice not to face it alone. Thank you.

Suthern,
I was a bit hesitant because I felt the title didn't seem to have much to do with the poem. But thank you, I'm glad it worked and was liked. Thank you, and how I wish you didn't have to understand...

Enchantress,
far too many know it. I so wish they didn't, though. Thank you for the kind words you always offer and I do hope the ache lessens for you.

Cathy,
Thank you... and yes, she was quite special. Unfortunately, no, she wouldn't have been proud of how I turned out. Though everything I thought of her was wonderful, and though I lived as if she was my God... when I died I not only had to mourn the loss of her, but the loss of who I thought she was, as well. That doesn't make my love for her any less, though. Again, thanks for the reply. You're always the sweetest Take care...

Dix,
What a kind reply. Thanks so much dear lady. back-atcha.

ice,
wow, thank you... that is exactly what I was trying to do. I'm honored that you think I accomplished that. Thank you!

Jo,
you sure pulled this up from the dust. Thanks (Reminded me I needed to write replies, too!). I'm glad you like the title and can understand it... I figured no one would. But you do have a way of going beyond expectation, don't you? I hope the rainy nights ahead come and go as they should, and that you keep finding the strength to face them. Again, Thank you...
