Pearls... All around me, the submarines and ships, and the men and women of the Pacific Fleet. In front of me, some reminders of the past. The Battleship Missouri, the ship upon which the Japanese surrender was signed, the ship that proudly served its Country from WWII until the Gulf War. To the right of the Missouri, the Arizona Memorial, built over the mid-section of the sunken battleship Arizona, and in the sunken Arizona Memorial rest 1,100 precious crewman who gave their lives on December 07, 1941 in the duty of protecting and preserving our freedoms. May God bless them all.... JamesLee December07 2004 In Pearl Harbor on December 07, 2004 standing at the IMF work section, looking towards the battleship Missouri and the Arizona Memorial... Arizona Memorial:It's a solemn place, this tomb of 1,100 crewmen who lost their lives on December 7, 1941. The ship's deck lies six feet below the surface...completed in 1961, the 184-foot long memorial crosses the Arizona's mid-section....from This Week in Oahu magazine of Aug. 13-22, 2001. Mighty Mo:Stand on the deck of the massive Battleship Missouri Memorial where the Japanese surrendered, effectively ending the infamous WWII....from This Week in Oahu... Aug.13-22, 2001. |
