I
am
alone,
thinking,
city gray day,
as slanted raindrops
tease at window’s ledge,
wet the hedges out in front,
greening the sidewalk mosses
and it’s so quiet at this moment
as the neighbors are all out shopping.
Streetside trees glow in bright colored lights.
Northern latititudes, sis has different attitudes,
climbing over fences, knee deep in ice and snow
her nose glows redder than Rudolph’s while feeding
the animals on her frozen farm each dark Alaska night,
awaiting Aurora, who dances in rainbow lights around midnight.
