Poetic Frustration You wake up in the middle of the night, Fumbling for the light, Not a pen in sight, Rhyme is rolling fast and deep While something in you still asleep, Is conscious of the thundering verse, And under your breath you curse. Tomorrow you will awake, You know tonight with a heart ache, That everything in verse you hear Will like the dream all disappear. The chemecal signature of your rhyming vision will vaporize like nuclear fission. Alas, reassure yourself you are a dreaming poet. Your conscious mind just does not show it. Sherry Gardner

Amen Sherry, how true...very much so.... can't count the number of times I have thought of some really good verse...and poof, it is somewhere in the recesses of mother earth....never to be found again. |

Hi Sherry! Gee I know this feeling well. This is when one of those mini tape recorders comes in handy... especially in the middle of the night. Excellent write! Hugs, Nancy ~ Let peace begin with me... ~ |
