in the shadows

When I walk alone,
inside the dark moonlight
wearing its energy,
the numbing silver light,
I hear the nightbird sing
against the slice of dawn,
and inside its quiet sounds
across an unkempt lawn
I feel its patient flight,
and I’m left wondering,
while in this wandering,
if there can ever be
a soul that lives so free
that it could know me.
I’m no pathetic case
filling time and space,
with token souvenirs
of rented love and tears,
I have no rules to bend
I don’t go seeking friends,
I like the quiet sounds
beyond where highways end,
I like my world alone
my phone rings aimlessly,
ignored and absently,
to say there’s no one home,
it’s anonymity
that saved this life you see
and no one owns me.

That would be good. Yes, I'd like that very much.

I can picture this solitary walk.

"I like the quiet sounds

Yes, me too, icebox, but I suppose I'll have to wait for my next lifetime.  I can relate to this poem - this well written poem.

Dearest Icy,

I have said more than once that I would love to know you beyond the pages of blue...your words have always drawn me...but I do understand the serenity of silence now...if only like yahoo messenger, we could appear invisable to only those we wish to.

love ya Icy!

By noticing you have already established the connection, a beautiful one, filling silence with meaning.

Beautiful write!

Fantastic!

into this night i wonder, it's morning that i dread, another day of knowing of, the path i fear to tread.
