Oh, Sweet Abed This morning, I must tell you thanks giving surely waxes I even find myself assured, I’m thanking God for taxes. For if there’s evidence about that proves I’ve made some money, it’s paying taxes in and out, you must admit that’s funny. For if I made a bit of naught I’d not have place to live my heart might be drawn and taut if Sam had naught to give. But thanks to those who labor and praise God I am among the ones who have employment for I can share a song. A song of Thanksgiving of turkey and of rice of pumpkin pie and candied yams I’ll fill my plate up twice. And then I can call all of those who are among the down and out and share what I have abundantly and watch them grow quite stout. November brings a wondrous life, my dear, it’s the cranberries! And in a month we’ll sleep abed and dream of plum-sweet fairies. ©November 25, 2004 Thanksgiving 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
