this winter’s day crashes crimson in the red madness of pleading light bleeding beneath a sinking sun he is chained to dwindling brilliance a prisoner of frigid rapture frozen and manacled to the barren ecstasy of her need and we are left in longing to gaze dimly at the stars as night slides gently across the shoulders of the world with the comfort and peace of an old soldier’s cloak steeped in the smoke and thunder of extinct dreams |
