On Hair There is still the little one inside solemnly remembering how hairstyles matured the woman, or was it how a mature woman wore hairstyles? Oh, the little one waits for those days of maturity to wind and bind hair up and women see, say oh yes she is ready and men see a fine neck ready for… well…yes… On hair… there is the phrase, letting one’s hair down and oh! to unpin clips and let loose the tresses then stretch to roll one’s neck, gently tossing back strands of auburn or gold, or titian hair, a strand or two left toward the front to trail down to show curves how curves lay… well…yes… ahem. On hair… Times and tides dictate to all men, and all women… so men have no time to groom, and let their hair grow long, and women have no time for ministrations and have theirs cut short… short does not allow for letting one’s hair down and therein lies a woman’s problem, for when she cannot let her hair down and feel again her woman tresses slip through her fingers let alone his fingers… when she cannot relax and speak her mind behind curves hiding curves she tends to hold more in than she thought… for there could be no time to relax if one isn’t given a time to let one’s hair down… perhaps it’s time to allow strands to grow to lengths again that require a hairpin… then its un-letting… a reason to raise arms high then finger silver tresses… there should be no age that one shouldn’t be able to let one’s hair down before she listens to her heart... ~*~ ©Karilea Rilling Jungel 29 May 2002 |

Karilea "there should be no age that one shouldn’t be able to let one’s hair down before she listens to her heart..." I have thought about cutting my hair again...just for the ease it gives...but haven't for all the reasons in this poem, and more. ![]() |

Karilea - this is wonderful - wonderful- I too miss letting my hair fall - and so I do so metaphorically - means allowing my woman to strut - Hugs - Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

Enjoyed this Karilea..much I could relate to here, what with this unruly mess atop my head..seems my hair is always down. And suits my personality, I think , anyway.. sort of wild and messy lol. Much enjoyed! Hugs~ |

Do you realize the percentage of men, that don't get that opportunity when they reach those years when it would really be nice to do so... Oh but don't women ever look sensual and oh so fine when they let down their hair....and let it be lightly caressed.... Yes!!! Well done KJ... you are so on target with this poem... |

I swear my hair has a mind of its own. Let it down and it stands on end like I stuck my finger in a light socket. Comb and curl to look just right go outside and it rains ....flat as a pancake. Yes my hair has a mind of its own. Hair spray I do use. Yes indeedy. A whole can of spray. Here comes a tornado. Not one hair out of place. Have to go find my body. But as you already know.... My hair has a mind of its own. HeeHee I don't know where this come from, this silly. Must be my hair if binding up my brain. Hugs BonBon ![]() |

OH, I'd say the muse is playing just fine, Karilea. Yep, why do a lot of us let age and times dictate our hairstyles? Why, for instance, is it so rare to find a woman who doesn't color her hair once the gray starts in (or even before that, because we hate our own God given color). Good rant. I once had very short hair -- remember the Dorothy Hammill cut? I was in high school at the time. I spent some time that summer deep in Mexico, where virtually all the women there had never, ever cut their hair. I had a small identity crisis, especially when some would ask if I was a boy or a girl. I went home and grew that hair out real quick-like! ![]() Corinne |

When you write as you do here, You draw in thoughts both far and near. I've watched as hair grows thither and yon; I guess it's envy as I have none. Great piece of slightly suggestive writing. Ken Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |
