Steal Away When stretched silhouettes lengthen 'cross the plains, And wee fowl to their screening thickets dart, The argent moon will brush the burnished grains, Within the lush fields where sleeps my heart, And 'tis then I'll cautiously steal away. When waltzing pixies frolic o'er the yard, Towards the mystic woodlands where they dwell, 'Tis then that I'll cash in my credit card, And with a loud cry, a holler, and yell, Follow along and from life; steal away. When that stately gypsy queen of twilight, Slips out to welcome each worshipful star, Then in the pliable shine of her light, I'll survey the steppes where once stood the czar, And pray her highness lets' me steal away. And if, incidentally, someone does seek, In coming times to know whose seat this was, Reply but in a voice touched by mystique, "It belonged to he whose greatest faux pas, Was ere he withdrew his love stole away." Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

this is one of those pieces where each stanza gives you a brand new feeling ... and yet.. every time i read just the two words... "steal away" i exhaled softly ... in that ... "i wish i could" kind of way. you do not need me to lower any bar my dear ..not at all. hugs&love, me "Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." |

to steal away is a fault of mine....always ready and willing your writing takes the reader to fond places in the mind, and I can so picture vivid places I've been and have yet to be. Thank you and good morning |

"When waltzing pixies frolic o'er the yard, Towards the mystic woodlands where they dwell, 'Tis then that I'll cash in my credit card, And with a loud cry, a holler, and yell, Follow along and from life; steal away." And when this should happen I do hope you would holler for me and allow me sir to steal away also. Excellent write...Smiles & Hugs, Nancy ~Somewhere in my heart I'm always |
