Matthew 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: I have looked at this story And reflected into history Thinking to apply a lesson to the now, You might as why, you might ask how. The military situation, So well controlled by aviation, That’s not where the eyes and teeth are, But traveling in a bomb filled car. The mayhem, is not something we can win, It’s just something we are dwelling in. Don’t people understand We can fight this hand to hand, But for the hand. I know the voice of peace calls, But that is a land of wars and walls, Where violence has the loudest voice And the people have little choice. There’s a story from near we all know About the walled city of Jericho, That with a joyful mighty sound The wall came tumbling down. The walls never win, Ask China or Berlin. In Viet Nam it was wire And concentrated machine gun fire, That divided us from them, But eventually they all got in. So can anybody win? Will the violence ever end? Perhaps. Will we get peace by assimilation Or will it be by extermination? Because only when both sides are one Will a lasting and true peace be done. Gloom Those who no this reference, will know the next verse. Those that don’t know the next verse can expect no peace by assimilation Only extermination. |

These things have been weighing heavily on my mind; thanks for giving Biblical reference. It was helpful to re-read Matthew. Thanks, P.G. AWESOME writing and sharing of wisdom. You are such a wonderful person. Be well. miscellanea [This message has been edited by miscellanea (07-26-2004 08:10 PM).] |
